As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grown in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote helaing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.
WELCA
WELCA is the women’s ministry organization of the ELCA. It is separately incorporated and is not an auxiliary of the church. It is financially independent and responsible for its own financial support. It includes women who gather in more than 4,500 locations in the US and the Carribbean, for service, study, advocacy, fellowship and more.
Activities
- GLOBAL IMPACT through assembling personal care kits and school bags to refugees and disaster relief.
- BUILDING COMMUNITY through women-led gatherings for a monthly book club a spring brunch, and a summer salad supper.
- CONCERN FOR OTHERS through the prayer chain, and helping our elderly community remain connected.
Thankoffering
Each year in November, we give in gratitude and thanksgiving for the all of the blessings we have received throughout the year, through an offering to support the work of the national WELCA office. Their ongoing ministries include many online and printed communications, justice and advocacy work, training and development for elected leaders throughout WELCA, work to support congregational women’s organizations, adminstration of grants and scholarship programs, and so much more.
