Jason Fisher- How long have you been a part of Good Shepherd?
I grew up just a few blocks from Good Shepherd and remember being baptized there with my mom, brother, and sister when I was 7 years old. We joined the church around the time I was in 2nd grade. I continued to worship with and serve alongside those gathered at Good Shepherd up through my graduation from High School. In 2007 my wife Samantha and son Zechariah moved back to Champaign and we have been a part of this faith community since moving back. All told 28 years - over half my life!

Discipleship is following in the way of Jesus. Allowing God's word to grow in us. Submitting to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is a risky scary adventure into the life that truly is life not only for me but for those I meet.
What are you passionate about? How did you discover that passion?
Teaching through play. I love learning new things about this amazing world God is creating and I can tell there is an excitement inside me that wants to share what I am learning with others. In high school I had friends from another church that invited me to their house for bible study each week. I really enjoyed the fellowship and games with friends but could tell I came most alive when I was given the opportunity to lead a bible study for the group. Ever since then I've relished the creative process of finding exciting and joyful ways of teaching and learning together.

Passionate about helping others. Sharing what talents I have with others all the while knowing that Jesus loves us all.
You were recommended by Bob Clark of GSLC. Does that surprise you? What should people know about the community service work/work that you do?
Somewhat surprised. Helping out in the community is not hard just need to take that 1st step whether it be helping out after a hurricane or delivering furniture.
What is one thing you’re deeply grateful for right now?
Family, health and God's love. I know more than one thing but it's hard to limit to one.
What about your work (volunteer or paid) is the most fulfilling to you?
Seeing people smile and appreciate us being there.
Why are you a part of this congregation?
Because our church family has been with us through the good times and the bad.
What is a favorite memory you have here at GSLC? Playing Goliath in a Sunday school play

We had a wonderful service this morning followed by “Rally Day” to kick off the Sunday School year where food, fellowship and good conversation were in full swing. Everyone was encouraged to be a part of working on our Bottle Cap mural which is coming together! A big thank you goes to Greg Fisher for helping lead our group in screwing our bottle caps into the mural. #elca #champaignurbana
